Journalist Danny Holdsworth is determined to discover who killed his best friend, Nigel, when the boys were about to go off to university. It was a murder that Danny was accused of and, over twenty years later, the opportunity to return to his home town of Matlock in the Peak District and use his job as editor of the local newspaper to campaign to bring Nigel’s killer to justice, was too good to turn down. But complications soon get in his way when he runs into his old flame, Caroline, who had married his childhood Nemesis from school. It isn’t a happy marriage and Caroline would like to turn back the clock with Danny, but his interest lies in someone else, someone very close to Caroline. The story takes on a tragic and unexpected twist as Danny’s own painful past becomes entwined with his present, once again, and it’s not only the identity of a murderer that he discovers.
