by Bob Burrows
Pages: 160
ISBN: 9781905513642
Global warming is - literally - the hot topic on everyone's lips and numerous scientists are putting forward a range of theories as to its cause, and the possible solutions.
Bob Burrows takes a good look not only at the science behind the global warming theories but also looks at the possible devastating outcomes for mankind, and for the millions of species which share planet Earth.
He examines in depth, the part animals of many species play in our everday lives, and how they influence daily tasks and how they have shaped and influenced our culture.
Scientific concerns are blended with a unique look at how the English language has been enriched alongside which mankind has developed; without these animals, Bob Burrows argues, our language would be dull and would lack vibrancy. How would future generations understand what a stool pigeon is? How would they imagine a bull in a china shop to behave? Who could float like a butterfly and sting like a bee?
As more species slip inexorably towards extinction he details those in maximum danger and enticingly updates discoveries of new creatures on land and in the sea. We must decide now, how to save them all, not just for their sake but also for ours. The effects of global warming will affect us not only physically, but also emotionally and linguistically, and we have a duty of care to ensure that we fight for all creatures on this planet.

The hobby grew and to date he has written almost 100 articles for Cheshire Life, FHM, Trailfinders, My Weekly, People's Friend, The Lady etc and many newspapers. A World Without Animals is his fifth published book, 'Cheshire's Famous' published in 2004, 'Fighter Writer' the true story of a Black Watch, Sergeant artist/poet, for which he was nominated for the Saltire award in two categories: both books were published by Breedon. 'Infamous Cheshire' published by Sutton Publishing came out in October 2006. He also has a self published book via Author House, 'Grandma's Letters' that entered the shops in December 2006.
